Benjamin Franklin is best known as one of the Founding Fathers who drafted the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the United States ("Benjamin Franklin Biography"). He made 8 voyages across the Atlantic Ocean and his curiosity about the speed of travel led him to the mapping of the Gulf Stream ("Benjamin Franklin's Inventions...") He was self-educated and earned degrees from Harvard, Yale, Oxford University in England, and the University of St. Andrews in Scotland("Benjamin Franklin Biography"). Franklin wrote his epitaph when he was 22: The body of B. Franklin, Printer (Like the Cover of an Old Book Its Contents torn Out And Stript of its Lettering and Gilding) Lies Here, Food for Worms. But the Work shall not be Lost; For it will (as he Believ'd) ("Benjamin Franklin Biography"). Franklin is on the face of the $100 bill because of his major contributions and to honor him.
